Volunteers separate, reuse plastic waste collected by Egyptian Nile fishermen

Giza (Egypt), Jun 2 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Khaled Elfiqi)A group of volunteers separate and sort plastic waste at a waste recycling cooperative on Quesayah Island in Giza, Egypt.

The NGO VeryNile uses plastic bottles collected from the Nile by fishermen in Cairo and Assiut where some 5,000 volunteers resell them to recycling factories.

The organisation works to raise awareness about the pollution of the environment with plastic waste through partnerships with volunteers, fishermen and environmental initiatives.
