Venezuelans protest in Peru against alleged electoral fraud

Lima, Aug 3 (EFE).- Hundreds of Venezuelans gathered in Lima on Saturday to protest against alleged electoral fraud in their country's recent presidential election and to support opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who called for a large mobilisation in Venezuela on Saturday.

Protesters gathered around the Venezuelan embassy in Lima, near the historic centre of the Peruvian capital, waving Venezuelan flags and holding banners demanding freedom and respect for their right to vote.

The diplomatic mission had closed after its staff left the country following President Nicolás Maduro's decision to break diplomatic relations with Peru over questions about his election victory. (Camera: MIKHAIL HUACÀN).
