INDIA PROTESTS WRESTLING

Top Indian wrestlers demand arrest of federation chief over harassment allegations

New Delhi, May 10, (EFE/EPA).- Prominent Indian wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Sakshi Malik took part on Wednesday in a sit-in protest against the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), Brij Bhushan, in New Delhi, India.

The protestors demanded Bhushan's arrest over allegations of sexual harassment. The wrestling community's outcry against Bhushan is the latest in a series of events challenging the leadership of India's wrestling governing body.

The protest is a significant development in Indian sports, where issues of harassment and abuse have increasingly come to the fore. (Camera: RAJAT GUPTA).
