Tibetans living in India demand release of their religious leader detained by China

Bangalore, May 17 (EFE/EPA).- Tibetans living in exile in India staged a protest Tuesday demanding the immediate release of their religious leader Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, who was placed under house arrest by the Chinese authorities.

Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was recognized by the 14th Dalai Lama as the 11th Kunsik Panchen Lama, the second most important spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, but he was kidnapped by the Chinese authorities in 1995, three days after the recognition. (Camera: JAGADEESH NV).
