LA reinforces security in razed areas with curfew, soldiers, neighbors on patrol

California, USA, Jan 10 (EFE/EPA) - Los Angeles County has beefed up security in fire-ravaged areas with California National Guard soldiers and a curfew aimed at preventing looting in the homes still standing, a measure welcomed by neighbours who have stayed behind to patrol.

On Friday, access to the town of Altadena, devastated by the Eaton fire, which has officially claimed the lives of at least six people, was regulated by soldiers and agents of various local and state security forces, who only allowed entry to firefighters, emergency personnel and members of the press, according to EFE.

At least 600 California National Guard soldiers were deployed in Los Angeles to assist both firefighters and police in the emergency sparked by six fires, which were still burning on Friday and have left at least 11 dead. (Camera: CAROLINE BREHMAN).
