TUNISIA PROTEST

Protest in support of Kais Said in Tunis

Tunis, Mar 20 (EFE) - (Camera: Natalia Román Morte) Several hundred supporters of President Kais Said, who will assume full powers in July 2021, took to the streets of the capital on Monday to show their support for him, following a campaign of arrests against opponents whom he accuses of treason for collaborating with foreign powers.

In a festive atmosphere on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of independence, the demonstrators raised a multitude of banners on the central avenue of Habib Bourguiba, father of the Tunisian state, to denounce interference in national sovereignty and demand accountability in the face of corruption, two of the main pillars of the president's political discourse.
