The presence of monarch butterflies in Mexico increased by 35 % by 2021

Mexico City, May 24 (EFE), (Camera: America Neri).- The presence of the Monarch butterfly in Mexican forests hibernation increased by 35% in December 2021, to occupy 2.84 hectares of forest compared to 2.10 documented in the same month of 2020, detailed Tuesday at a press conference Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources.

Translation: We are seeing in real time the adaptation of monarch butterflies to the issue of climate change. For the last three seasons we have been observing that the monarchs start to leave much earlier, they are very active in December and they start to reproduce in January and they are leaving earlier back to the north of the continent.
