ARGENTINA JUSTICE

Life imprisonment for five Argentines accused of Fernando Báez Sosa's murder

Dolores, Feb 6 (EFE).- The parents of Fernando Baez Sosa, the young man murdered three years ago in Argentina, were "satisfied" with the sentence that on Monday condemned five amateur rugby players to life imprisonment but will appeal to demand that the other three accused of the crime be sentenced to the same penalty.

Baez Sosa was attacked in the early hours of 18 Jan, 2020, outside a nightclub in the Buenos Aires city of Villa Gesell, where he was punched and kicked unconscious, an attack recorded on security cameras.

The case has also been closely followed in Paraguay, whose Congress has joined the calls for justice for Báez Sosa, as his parents are Paraguayan immigrants living in Argentina. (Camera: JULIETA BARRERA).
