Kidnapping victims raise their voices and ask FARC commanders for more truth

Bogota, Jun 21 (EFE), (Camera: Juan Diego Lopez) - A handful of the thousands of people who were kidnap victims raised their voices on Tuesday and asked the heads of the last FARC secretariat to tell the truth about what happened in the armed conflict, especially those kidnapped and those who died while in the hands of the guerrillas.

Translation:

Oscar Tulio Lizcano, kidnapped for eight years: The victims, and it is very important because obviously they get some comparative benefits in the peace agreement that we support, but what we want is to know the truth, the truth that all the victims are eager to know what happened to my loved one, what happened to the disappeared, what happened. We have to know that truth and I ask you and we ask the perpetrators, our jailers, you middle managers, what happened, where they are, we have to go to the bottom to know the truth.

Orlando Beltrán, kidnapped for six years: You are genocides just like Hitler, you are a bunch of murderers, of criminals who deserve the repudiation of Colombian society. I want to say to you that this page of pain must be turned because definitely, as the president said at that time, peace is much better than a prolonged war and I recognize that the State was incapable of defeating them militarily, but I want this acceptance of your recognition to be first conditioned to the truth, I believe that there is nothing better and comforting for the victim in such immense pain than to be told the truth and you must not remain in the simple recognition of what they were responsible for, but to contribute to the truth being fully known in Colombia.
