INDONESIA POLLUTION

Indonesia's Aceh river continues to battle severe pollution

Banda Aceh, Aug 9 (EFE/EPA).- The Aceh River on the island of Sumatra of Indonesia continues to be polluted by unfiltered wastewater, domestic and plastic wastes.

The Banda Aceh City Environmental, Sanitation and Beauty Services agency said the waste pollution is caused by the lack of awareness of city residents on river cleanliness by throwing garbage dominated plastic waste into the river.

The waste in the Aceh river will be carried to the wide ocean, especially in the Indian Ocean bordering Aceh waters. (Camera: HOTLI SIMANJUNTAK).
