Death toll in violent protests against Peru government tops 77

Lima, Mar 22 (EFE).- The death of 22-year-old Rosalino Flores brought to 77 on Wednesday the nationwide death toll in the anti-government protests that began Last December across Peru.

Flores was hit by 36 pellets on 11 January in the Southeastern Peruvian city of Cuzco during the anti-government protests, and died this 21 March at the Lima hospital where he was hospitalized, bringing the total number of fatalities from the direct repression of the demonstrations to 49.

"After almost two months of agony, Rosalino Flores, a 22-year-old young man who received more than 30 metal pellets in the stomach during the protests in Cusco, died," the National Human Rights Coordinator (CNDDHH) reported on Twitter. (Camera: MIKHAIL HUACÁN).
